Spring Letter from the President
Didn’t receive the Spring mailing? Please let us know!
Greetings from Saddle Lake,
Spring is around corner. For the most part it has been a mild winter and we are excited to be
thinking about being on the lake again. Saddle Lake Property Owners Association has been
working to make our lake usable for all.
There are a couple of things up that are important for our lake.
First, we want to invite you to join or renew your membership to SLPOA.: 2024 SLPOA Membership .
The success of SLPOA is dependent on your participation, we urge you to become a member.
Secondly and most important is a petition for the Saddle Lake Special Assessment District (SAD).
The SAD is the tax money that covers the lake management fees. The fees include permitting,
legal fees, water quality testing, and weed treatment (the reduction and elimination of aquatic
plants) for the lake. Last year we were able to do weed harvesting and control the invasive
weeds. The results of the study by Restorative Lake Science that was completed for Saddle Lake,
indicated a need both now and in the future to control invasive weeds and to keep our lake
healthy. The current SAD is due to expire in 2024. The calculated cost to continue weed
treatment along with harvesting is $230 per parcel. This would calculate to just under $20 per
month for each lake property. We would like to have the SAD be extended for a 10-year period.
Without this investment, there will be NO lake treatments and we would not be able to maintain
the lake. The 10 year estimates for treatments are attached to this letter. Enclosed is the petition.
Please take the time to read, sign and return this very important document. In order to reinstate
the SAD we must have 51% or more of the property in favor of the SAD. On the petition please
include all of your lake front parcels on the form (if you own more than one). If you have any
questions about this petition, please feel free to contact us.
Thank you for taking the time to read and return the documents enclosed.
Appreciatively,
Jeff Postma, President
